I was approached by the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l'image about taking part in an exhibition. They had selected 100 pages by various great cartoonists from around the globe, and now they were asking 100 contemporary cartoonists to pick a page from the collection and do their own take on it. It could be an imitation, a remake, a commentary, whatever.
I picked the page below by Will Eisner. I'm a fan of using a lot of blacks, so you can see why this page would appeal to me!

And here is my take on the page.

I will also add that I was fortunate enough to have Will Eisner as a teacher when I went to art school, and I always thought it was great the way he was still excited about comics and instructing young cartoonists.

This is currently part of the Cent Pour Cent exhibit at the Musee de la Bande Dessinee in Angouleme, France.
